Doing laundry more sustainably in Malta doesn't mean giving up fresh, soft clothes. With the right products and a few habits, you can reduce plastic waste and still get great results. Here's what we recommend at Free Bubbles Malta.
1. Choose concentrated detergent
Concentrated fabric detergent means you use less per load, so each container lasts longer. Pick the right type for the job – a classic detergent for everyday washes, or a dedicated formula for black clothes to help keep dark colours looking deep.
2. Use fabric softener wisely
A good fabric softener helps reduce static and wrinkles and leaves a lasting scent. Our Xarem + range is one of our best sellers – start with a small dose and adjust to your taste.
3. Refill instead of rebuying
The biggest change you can make is to stop buying a new bottle every time. Buy a 5L jerrycan, use it up, and bring it back for a refill. You'll throw away far less plastic over a year.
4. Wash full loads at lower temperatures
Running full loads and washing at 30–40°C where your clothes allow saves energy and water – and modern detergents are made to clean well at lower temperatures.
5. Freshen between washes
Not everything needs a full wash. A fabric freshener spray can refresh curtains, sofas and jackets in between.
